Mexican Dinner In Wicker Park And Logan Square: Tacos, Burritos Or Shared Plates

Decide how you want to order Mexican dinner before choosing the address. At Big Star in Wicker Park, count tacos and add the posted supplement. At L’Patron in Logan Square, choose a burrito or torta and check the price by phone. At Mi Tocaya, build a shared meal around a mushroom guiso that already includes tortillas. These three plans suit different appetites for sharing; the comparison below shows the food costs we could verify.

All amounts are USD, checked October 15, 2026, before tax, tip, drinks and extras. The Big Star example is one three-taco selection; the Mi Tocaya example is an order to share, not a guaranteed meal size for two. A surcharge-inclusive figure is still not the final bill.

Big Star For Counting Tacos

Big Star’s Wicker Park menu makes the arithmetic straightforward. Al pastor is USD 4.95, with pork shoulder, grilled pineapple, onion and cilantro; carne asada is USD 6.95. Two of the former and one of the latter total USD 16.85 before the posted 3.5% hospitality supplement, or about USD 17.44 with it. Three is an example order; add tacos or sides to suit your appetite.

The menu says tacos are served family-style, so sharing is possible even when you choose by the taco. The branch is at 1531 N Damen Avenue in Wicker Park. Check the separate to-go schedule if you are collecting food. Sunday is the sharpest distinction—the restaurant lists service until 10 p.m., while the window closes at 2 p.m.

L’Patron For A Burrito Or Torta

L’Patron is the Logan Square option when you want to choose your own filled main rather than negotiate a tableful of plates. Its burritos and tortas list lettuce, tomato, sour cream, refried beans and avocado as the base. Carne asada uses skirt steak; al pastor adds roasted pineapple, onion and cilantro. The taco format instead lists onion and cilantro, so the same meat choice does not mean the same assembly.

L’Patron leaves one important part of that decision off the page: the price. The official menu says “Call for pricing.” Ring the Fullerton restaurant before committing if cost is what will decide dinner. At 3749 W Fullerton Avenue, the posted schedule is Tuesday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–10 p.m., with Monday closed. The site provides phone ordering; it does not establish an available table or a pickup time.

Check L’Patron’s menu or find its ordering phone numbers.

Mi Tocaya For Building A Shared Meal

At Mi Tocaya, start with the dish you actually want to share. Xochi’s Guiso, USD 24, lists several mushrooms stewed in pipián verde with beans and pápalo, and it includes tortillas and salsa habanera. Those accompaniments belong in the price comparison. Add USD 13 guacamole and a USD 10 fish taco and the food total is USD 47, or USD 48.41 with the stated 3% health-insurance fee.

The fish taco adds cobia, tuna mayo and a squid-ink tortilla to the order. Find the restaurant at 2800 W Logan Boulevard in Logan Square. Check the booking page for your evening and party size. Six or more adds 20% automatic gratuity, while groups of eight or more have a USD 65-per-person food-and-beverage minimum before tax, gratuity and fees.

See Mi Tocaya’s dinner menu and read its booking terms.

Choose The Address Before The Extras

If your group is meeting on Damen, start with Big Star. For Logan Square, decide whether L’Patron’s individual filled mains or Mi Tocaya’s shared dishes suit the group, then send everyone the exact address.

For takeout, use the restaurant’s actual ordering channel and hours. Big Star’s separate window schedule is especially relevant; L’Patron’s phone route is useful for checking its unpublished prices. Mi Tocaya’s booking rules become more consequential as the group grows. Check availability for your actual date and time.

Where We Would Start

Choose Big Star if counting tacos is the simplest way to keep control of the food order. Choose L’Patron for a burrito or torta, after checking the price. Choose Mi Tocaya for a shared dinner built around a specific dish, with the fee and any group terms already in your calculation.

For more taco orders, see the West Loop taco guide. To keep the same neighbourhood and change the meal, compare Logan Square pizza formats.
