Birthday Dinner for Six in Wicker Park and Logan Square: Choose the Booking Format

Six friends can fit three very different birthday plans: a pizza table with a time limit, a Mexican dinner whose headcount triggers gratuity, or a family-style package booked in advance. Piece, Mi Tocaya and Longman & Eagle publish policies that specifically include a party of six. Start there before arguing over a restaurant’s reputation. The useful question is how much the group wants to choose at the table—and how much the organiser needs settled before sending the invitation.

Three ways to organise the dinner

  • Pizza and a defined table window: Piece in Wicker Park.
  • Choose dishes, with gratuity added at six: Mi Tocaya in Logan Square.
  • A package arranged at least 48 hours ahead: Longman & Eagle in Logan Square.

Menu examples exclude drinks, tax and any charges not explicitly incorporated in the example. They are not six-person meal totals. Piece’s current general surcharge policy was not established; Longman’s individual menu prices do not establish its package price.

Piece: book six, then respect the 90-minute window

Piece’s official seating policy accepts limited reservations for six or more, while groups of five or fewer are walk-in. The number six therefore changes the booking route here, rather than simply changing how many chairs you hope will be free. All tables have a 90-minute limit, which makes this a better fit for a contained pizza dinner than a birthday gathering expected to occupy the table all evening.

The regular pizza menu lists a large plain pie at $29, with toppings charged separately. A group can agree on several orders after choosing how much variety it wants; do not turn the menu’s suggested serving ranges into a guaranteed headcount formula. Its individual lunch pizzas are a separate daytime offer. For an evening party, budget from the regular pie menu and confirm fees.

Mi Tocaya: six is a price-policy threshold

Mi Tocaya’s booking page adds automatic 20% gratuity to parties of six or more, as well as its 3% health-insurance fee. Tell the group about both before dinner. The posted $65-per-person food-and-beverage minimum begins at eight, so it should not be presented as a minimum for the six-person plan.

The menu lets the group choose different dishes: $23 squash-blossom atoladas are explicitly vegan, while the $28 steak burrito follows another preference. Neither price is a group package. This is the option when the birthday table wants menu choices rather than a preselected family-style dinner. The booking page requires a credit card and describes cancellation charges; confirm the applicable terms on the reservation itself. Advance discussion matters if the group's dietary needs affect what can be ordered.

Longman & Eagle: decide on the package before the party

Longman & Eagle explicitly offers prix fixe family-style dinner packages for groups including six, booked at least 48 hours in advance. That is a different planning tool from reserving a table and passing the menu around. Choose it when the organiser wants to settle the dinner format in advance and the group is willing to share.

Its posted main menu gives context for the restaurant’s food—such as a beef double smashburger with fries and chicken schnitzel—but those individual dishes and prices are not the package quotation. Use the authorized family-style dinner booking link to establish the current menu, charge structure and cancellation terms before paying or confirming. The restaurant describes online menus as recent examples. A package can simplify the invitation only after everyone understands the actual offer.

Send a useful invitation

Give friends the restaurant, address, start time and meal format together. At Piece, mention the table window. At Mi Tocaya, include the added gratuity and fee in the budget discussion. At Longman, send the actual package quotation, not an individual burger price standing in for dinner.

Ask directly about outside cake, candles and any other birthday arrangements before bringing them; none is established by these sources. Keep one organiser responsible for changes to headcount. A reservation policy is useful because it tells you what to confirm, not because it promises availability.

Choose Piece for a timed pizza gathering, Mi Tocaya for a table making its own menu choices, and Longman for an advance package. The birthday can remain spontaneous in the ways that matter once the booking obligations are understood.
