A Weekday Lunch In Logan Square, With The Sides And Cutoffs Counted

For a weekday lunch in Logan Square, count the sides before comparing sandwich prices—and check when the sandwiches are actually served. A USD 10 grilled cheese at Same Day includes pickles and slaw; Lardon’s USD 16 Frenchie comes with chips and pickles, then adds a posted surcharge. Here is what the posted menus include, what the example costs and when the daytime service narrows. Wednesday–Friday is the simplest overlap for all three; Bang Bang is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Start With Your Appetite

  • A smaller savoury order: Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits, a USD 12 sausage biscuit on its authorized pickup menu; coffee or pie costs extra.
  • A sandwich or a plate you assemble: Same Day Cafe, USD 10 grilled cheese with pickles and apple slaw, or the USD 15 Triple with three sides or deli salads.
  • A deli sandwich with chips: Lardon, USD 16 Frenchie plus its posted 5% surcharge, bringing that food amount to USD 16.80 before tax and tip.

All prices are USD for one food order, checked October 14, 2026. Bang Bang and Same Day figures are authorized online-order prices; confirm dine-in prices. Lardon’s price comes from its posted Fall 2026 lunch menu. Drinks, dessert, tax, tip and other charges are excluded; Lardon’s displayed surcharge is included only in the USD 16.80 figure.

Bang Bang When A Biscuit Is The Plan

Bang Bang Pie & Biscuits gives a light lunch a clear starting point. The authorized pickup menu lists its sausage biscuit at USD 12: chicken sausage, white cheddar and peach-habanero jam on a scratch biscuit. Coffee and a slice of pie are separate purchases. If that sounds too small for your midday appetite, use one of the sandwich options below rather than treating every low entry price as a full meal.

The official shop information says to order at the front counter before taking a seat; indoor seating is first come, first served. There is no reserved lunch table built into this plan. The shop is at 2051 N California Avenue, Logan Square, and opens Wednesday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m., with shorter weekend hours. It is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Same Day Cafe When You Want To Choose The Size Of Lunch

At Same Day Cafe, the USD 10 grilled cheese is the useful starting comparison: white cheddar and smoked gouda on house-made rosemary bread, with pickles and apple slaw on the authorized online menu. The egg salad sandwich is USD 12 with the same sides. A USD 15 vegan patty melt gives a diner avoiding animal ingredients a menu-labelled option; confirm any particular dietary requirements directly.

The alternative is the USD 15 Triple, a choice of three house-made sides or deli salads. That is the reason to consider Same Day beyond another sandwich: you can build the plate around several smaller dishes. 2651 N Kedzie Avenue is a separate meeting point from the California Avenue pair. The website currently posts Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., under “Winter Hours”; reconfirm seasonal hours for your visit.

Lardon When You Want The Deli Lunch And Its Full Food Cost

Lardon supplies the cured-meat sandwich choice. Its Fall 2026 lunch menu lists the Frenchie at USD 16: house-cured ham, country pork pâté, brie, Dijon and cornichon mayonnaise in a baguette. Kettle chips and cucumber-dill pickles come with the deli and hot sandwiches. A sweet-potato bánh mì is also USD 16, with mushroom pâté, slaw, herbs and aioli.

The menu adds a 5% restaurant surcharge, which it says can be removed on request. For the Frenchie, that makes USD 16.80 before tax and tip if the charge stays. Lunch at 2200 N California Avenue, Logan Square, starts at 11 a.m. Hot sandwiches run until 3:30 p.m.; deli sandwiches until 5 p.m. Those cutoffs matter more than the café’s earlier opening if you are meeting for a sandwich.

Make The Meeting Point Specific

Bang Bang and Lardon are both on California Avenue, but they are different businesses with different ordering routines. Same Day is on Kedzie. Send the address with the invitation, then check the relevant menu rather than assuming a café opening time establishes sandwich service.

For a biscuit and an optional dessert, choose Bang Bang on one of its open weekdays. For a lower starting sandwich price or a three-component plate, choose Same Day and confirm its seasonal hours. For Lardon’s cured-meat baguette, budget the posted surcharge and arrive during sandwich service. Leave time for ordering and eating; published service hours cannot promise a finish time.

If the meal has moved to Sunday, our Logan Square brunch beyond eggs guide compares that different service. The Logan Square planning page collects dinner and daytime choices.

How we chose: We compared official shop information, authorized order menus and Lardon’s posted lunch PDF on October 14, 2026. The selections are research-based; we have not visited or tasted these orders for this guide.
