Where to Take a Visitor for Dinner in Logan Square

Your visitor has one evening in Logan Square, and you would like dinner to feel chosen rather than assigned by a list of famous names. Start with how they like to eat: an individual plate they can recognize, Mexican dishes with room for both vegetables and meat, or a table built around sharing pastas and vegetables. Lula Cafe, Mi Tocaya Antojería and Giant answer those different invitations. The food examples and added charges below help you decide how much of the evening—and the bill—you want to plan in advance.

Match the guest to the menu

  • An individual order with room to add more: Lula Cafe.
  • Different preferences across a Mexican menu: Mi Tocaya Antojería.
  • Two people willing to build a shared order: Giant.

Lula CafePasta YiaYia + roast chicken$5320%: $10.60$63.60

GiantBucatini + sortalini + carrots + bread$715%: $3.55$74.55

These are sample orders, not equivalent portions, fixed menus or guaranteed complete meals. Figures exclude drinks, dessert and tax. Mi Tocaya and Giant figures exclude gratuity; Lula's 20% service fee is included, with optional additional gratuity accepted. A different appetite or another round of drinks changes the comparison more than the small difference between the first two examples.

Lula Cafe: let your guest choose their own dinner

Lula’s Pasta YiaYia gives a visitor a particular menu detail to remember: bucatini with feta, garlic, brown butter and cinnamon, listed at $21. Pairing it in this example with the $32 roast chicken makes room for two separate main choices. You do not have to persuade your guest to share every plate before sitting down.

That flexibility is why Lula belongs here. Its cafe classics offer a useful starting point within a broader dinner menu, so the host can choose something distinctive without deciding the whole meal for someone else. Dinner normally runs Wednesday through Monday, with Tuesday closed. The official FAQ confirms reservations, full-menu bar service and some tables held for walk-ins. Reserve if the rest of your visitor’s evening depends on this meal, and note the $25-per-person no-show charge.

Mi Tocaya Antojería: choose from the actual differences on the menu

Mi Tocaya gives a host more useful information than a broad “Mexican food” label. Its posted squash-blossom atoladas are explicitly vegan: blue corn, calabacitas, poblano, masa salsa and pistachio, for $23. Elsewhere, the $28 steak burrito lists skirt steak, queso, black beans, romaine, avocado and other accompaniments. Those two orders make different preferences visible before you invite anyone.

Choose it when your guest wants to browse dishes beyond one shared pizza or a table-wide tasting menu. Our example adds $13 guacamole, but you can make a different order from the current menu. Check the booking terms carefully if the party grows: six or more triggers an automatic 20% gratuity; eight or more also has a $65-per-person food-and-beverage minimum before tax, gratuity and fees. The two-person example uses only the posted 3% health-insurance charge.

Giant: make the shared order part of the evening

Giant’s menu gives two willing sharers a clear starting exercise: choose two pastas, then a vegetable and bread. In our example, $23 bucatini with bacon, jalapeño and anchovy sits alongside $24 sortalini with smoked tomato, guanciale and pine nuts; $16 carrots and $8 bread bring the food subtotal to $71. That is an order with several things to discuss, rather than two versions of the same main.

Choose Giant if that sounds enjoyable to your guest. Choose another format if they would rather keep a plate to themselves, or if these listed ingredients conflict with their preferences. The official site identifies a 45-person dining room, opens at 5 p.m. daily and adds a 5% insurance charge. None of those facts establishes a quiet room or a spare table; use its authorized reservation route for your date.

Give dinner a place in the visit

These addresses serve different parts of the Logan Square plan: Lula is on Kedzie Boulevard, Mi Tocaya on Logan Boulevard, and Giant on Armitage. Put the chosen address beside your guest’s other plans before booking. “Logan Square” is useful orientation, but it does not put three dining rooms on one block.

Ask about ingredients before setting the order. A dish labelled vegan is useful menu evidence, while a vegetable dish containing honey or cheese needs a different discussion. None of this research establishes allergy-safe preparation. Mi Tocaya’s booking page describes advance notice for dietary needs; raise them directly rather than relying on the menu name alone.

For a guest arriving alone or meeting you later, our solo dinner guide compares individual orders and seating formats. If dinner starts the visit, keep the choice simple: Lula for independent plates, Mi Tocaya for different menu preferences, Giant when sharing is part of the pleasure of going out together.
