Ossington Dinner With A Vegetarian Friend: Choose The Order First

Find your vegetarian friend a main they want before the table starts ordering dishes to share. On Ossington, that can mean pineapple curry with rice at Soos, a falafel plate at Azhar, or eggplant and smaller plates at The Haifa Room. All three also serve meat, leaving room for companions to choose differently. This guide compares the food listed on their current dinner menus, what is included and when a larger party has to commit to a shared menu.

Menus checked October 14, 2026. Prices are for the named dishes, not a complete dinner budget; tax, tip, drinks and additions are excluded. Some meat-free dishes contain dairy or honey. These are menu-based choices, not allergy-safety assurances or a claim that every preparation is vegan; confirm the actual order with the restaurant.

Soos For A Curry With Rice Already Included

The pineapple curry on Soos’s food menu gives someone a main to choose without assembling dinner from sides. At CAD 27, it lists grilled tofu and pineapple, green bean, tomato, coconut curry, mint-and-red-onion slaw and jasmine rice. A companion can order a different main, such as the separately listed banana-leaf fish with rice, rather than requiring every dish to be shared. Soos marks dishes that are vegan friendly or can be made vegan friendly; specify what you need.

The alternative is Feed Me at CAD 65 per person: the whole table participates, and Soos describes substitutions for a vegan guest within a mixed group. Six or more must choose Feed Me; 20% gratuity starts at five. 94 Ossington Avenue serves dinner Wednesday–Sunday and is closed Monday–Tuesday. Use the official reservation page and confirm dietary arrangements before committing to the shared option.

Azhar For A Falafel Plate And Optional Shared Dips

Azhar’s current dinner menu lists its falafel plate under Large at CAD 32, with hummus, herbs, sumac onion, pickled turnip and pepper. That gives a vegetarian diner a named large plate while the rest of the table chooses freely. Pita is not stated as an inclusion with that plate. The separately priced CAD 18 hummus, muhammara and babaganoush dips each come with two pitas, so ask what you need before doubling up on hummus.

Crispy maitake mushrooms with toum and labneh are CAD 18; the labneh matters if your friend is vegan. 96 Ossington Avenue is beside Soos, with weekday service from 4 p.m. Book the correct restaurant on OpenTable. This small-party plan changes for groups: 20% gratuity applies from six guests, and the authorised booking page requires a CAD 75-per-person set menu for seven to sixteen.

The Haifa Room For Eggplant Or A Selection Of Smaller Plates

At 224 Ossington Avenue, The Haifa Room’s dinner menu lists loaded eggplant at CAD 27 with farro, peppers, tahini, pine nuts and shatta. That is the order to consider when your vegetarian companion wants something other than another falafel plate. It also leaves the rest of the table free to add meat or vegetable dishes according to their preferences.

If everyone wants to pick at several dishes, house hummus with pita is CAD 14, two falafel are CAD 6 and mejadra rice is CAD 9: CAD 29 for that selection, before extras. This is an ordering example, not a guaranteed dinner for two. The rice contains labneh, and a separate pita is CAD 3. Reservations are linked from the restaurant; confirm dinner service for your time. Its late Friday/Saturday general closing time does not establish a late kitchen cutoff.

Make The Main Decision Before The Reservation

Start with Soos when rice and an individual curry are the appealing answer. Choose Azhar for the falafel large plate and decide whether the table actually needs an extra dip. Haifa gives the eggplant enthusiast another direction and lets everyone contribute to the shared order. If you have five or more guests, check the gratuity and shared-menu rules before everyone assumes they can order independently.
