Little Italy Dinner When You Do Not Want Pasta

Keep the College Street plan and change the order. These three Little Italy choices give you chicken parmigiana with a side, steak frites, or Spanish dishes to share, with the food arithmetic shown for two people.

The useful difference is how you want dinner to work. Café Diplomatico and Alice let you organise the meal around individual plates; Bar Raval asks you to choose dishes together and arrive without a reservation. Pick the format first, then decide whether the address and service arrangements fit the rest of your evening.

Choose Your Kind Of Dinner

  • An Individual Chicken Plate: Café Diplomatico includes a choice of side with its chicken parmigiana.
  • A Steak And Fries Each: Alice makes the regular-menu price explicit.
  • Spanish Plates To Share: Bar Raval has a priced starting order, with no reservations.

Compare A Two-Person Order

All amounts are CAD for the named food order for two, excluding drinks, dessert, tax and tip. The shared plates and individual mains contain different quantities; adjust for your appetites. These are sample orders drawn from published menus, not fixed-price offers.

Compare the side choices as well as the mains. A regular-menu steak price is also easier to plan around than a discount that depends on when you order.

Café Diplomatico: Keep An Individual Plate And Choose Its Side

594 College St · Little Italy, at Clinton Street

Café Diplomatico is the option for someone who wants the Italian-Canadian dinner plan without ordering a pasta main. Its current official menu lists chicken parmigiana at CAD 23.75, with a choice of house salad, penne, fries or mixed vegetables. Pick one of the non-pasta sides and the whole order follows the brief, rather than avoiding spaghetti only to add penne by default.

For two diners choosing the same plate, the food subtotal is CAD 47.50. If your companion wants another main, compare that dish’s own accompaniments and price; the restaurant’s menu extends beyond this single example.

Use the official restaurant website for the College-and-Clinton address and contact route. Its published opening hours cover all seven days, but late venue hours do not establish the last kitchen order. Confirm directly before turning this into a late dinner plan.

Alice: Make Dinner A Steak-And-Fries Order

488 College St · Little Italy, toward Bathurst Street

Alice earns its place for a clearly priced individual meat main. The regular menu lists a 6 oz steak frites at CAD 32, served with hand-cut fries. Two of those plates give a CAD 64 food subtotal before drinks, dessert, tax and tip. Choose this when you both want steak and would rather keep your own plates than assemble tapas together.

The menu also publishes separate happy-hour prices. Treat those as a different offer with its own timing, not as the regular dinner price. A cheaper number is useful only when it applies to your actual reservation and order.

Alice’s late-dining page explicitly lists full-menu service until 1 a.m. Sunday–Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday. That provides actual food-service evidence if your evening starts late. Use its restaurant-linked OpenTable page to check your date and current booking terms.

Bar Raval: Trade The Separate Mains For Spanish Sharing Plates

505 College St · Little Italy, toward Bathurst Street

Bar Raval gives the shortlist a genuinely different dinner format. Its official food menu lists tomato bread at CAD 12 and jamón croquetas at CAD 13 in a section priced for two pieces per dish. Add fried eggplant at CAD 17 and smoked mackerel with bread at CAD 18 for the CAD 60 starting order above.

Those are four dishes chosen for the table, rather than a chicken or steak plate each. Choose Raval if discussing and sharing the order is part of the evening. Add more only after checking both appetite and the running bill; this example is not a promise that four dishes will be sufficient for every pair.

The official page says no reservations. That is the important planning limit. If a confirmed booking is essential, choose a reservable restaurant instead. Its 1 a.m. closing time does not establish the last food orders, so ask directly if eating late matters.

Keep The Neighbourhood, Change The Meal

These addresses keep the plan on College Street’s Little Italy corridor, rather than redirecting you across Toronto for a different cuisine. They are a small decision-focused selection, not a survey of every restaurant on the street.

Agree on the part of dinner that matters most. If each person wants their own main, Diplomatico’s side choice or Alice’s steak frites is the useful starting point. If you want a shared order and can accept a visit without a booking, Raval changes the format as well as the dishes.

Choose Diplomatico for chicken with a side counted, Alice for a steak each, or Raval for Spanish sharing plates. The neighbourhood can stay the same while the dinner changes considerably.
