Choose The Lunch First
- A bowl of your own: Ramen Isshin’s Queen branch lists classic shoyu at CAD18.50.
- Chicken With Its Accompaniments: Queen Mother’s Ping Gai includes rice and salad at CAD27.95.
- A Sandwich, With Optional Fries: Bar Poet’s Parmesan chicken sandwich is CAD18.95; add CAD10 for a separate fries order.
Compare What The Price Buys
All prices are CAD per person for the named order, excluding drinks, dessert, tax and tip. Queen Mother’s figure comes from its website’s Menu link, which resolves to a takeout-labelled address; confirm the dine-in price directly. These are published menu examples, not fixed-price packages or promises about how much you will need. Adding an appetiser changes the arithmetic.
| Lunch | Published food figure | Included in this example | Daytime planning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramen Isshin Queen | 18.50 | Classic shoyu ramen | Queen branch opens at noon |
| Queen Mother Café | 27.95 | Ping Gai, jasmine rice, salad and dipping sauce | Normally opens at 11:30 a.m.; check dated notices |
| Bar Poet | 18.95, or 28.95 with fries | Sandwich; fries separately priced | Main menu from noon; reservations and walk-ins |
A bowl and a chicken plate are different lunches. The table shows the order you are buying rather than pretending their prices describe identical quantities.
Ramen Isshin: Keep Lunch To One Bowl
609 Queen St W · Queen West, near Bathurst Street
Ramen Isshin is the most direct choice here when everyone wants an individual bowl. The Queen branch menu lists classic shoyu at CAD18.50: pork and seafood broth, pork belly cha shu, a marinated egg and thin noodles. You do not have to assemble several small purchases to establish the cost of that order.
That is also a useful starting point for a pair who want different ramen styles. Choose separately, then decide whether a shared appetiser belongs in the budget. Discuss any specific dietary preparation needs directly with the restaurant.
Use the specific Queen location page for hours and contact details. It lists noon openings, so an 11:30 meeting means choosing another restaurant or making the meeting later. Confirm the branch when looking at menus; the company operates several locations with different offerings.
Queen Mother Café: Choose Chicken With Rice And Salad Already Included
208 Queen St W · Queen West, toward University Avenue
Queen Mother helps when one diner wants a chicken plate and another wants to choose a different kind of main. Its posted menu lists Ping Gai at CAD27.95, with garlic, coriander and black-pepper-marinated chicken, steamed jasmine rice, salad greens and a lime-coriander dipping sauce. The accompaniments explain the price more usefully than a broad spending symbol.
The same menu lists a Sri Lankan vegetable curry roti with salad at CAD22.95. That gives companions a separate order to consider without changing the lunch destination. Discuss preparation directly if your needs go beyond the listed ingredients.
The website normally lists service from 11:30 a.m. and supplies 416-598-4719 for reservation enquiries. Check its current service notices before setting off. A phone enquiry is sensible when eating together at a table matters more than choosing the lowest menu figure.
Bar Poet: Decide Whether The Sandwich Needs A Side
1090 Queen St W · West Queen West, at Dovercourt Road
Bar Poet gives this lunch comparison a useful piece of bill arithmetic. Its main menu lists a Parmesan chicken sandwich at CAD18.95, with tomato-garlic spread, basil, pesto aioli, arugula and buffalo mozzarella. Fries appear separately at CAD10. If you want both, the food subtotal is CAD28.95; the sandwich price alone does not describe that order.
Choose the sandwich when that is the lunch you want, or compare the CAD23 OG Margherita pizza if everyone would prefer their own topping choice. Extra dips and substitutions have their own prices.
The official FAQ states that the main menu runs from noon and that walk-ins are welcome. Resy is its booking route. Seating is predominantly high-top tables, with limited booths, which is a practical consideration if your lunch plans depend on a particular seating style.
Set A Meeting Place, Then A Budget
Choose the address before sending friends a general “Queen West” invitation. These three restaurants sit on different stretches of the street; a cheaper order at the far end may not be the sensible choice if everyone’s afternoon plans are elsewhere.
If you need an early lunch, Queen Mother’s normal 11:30 opening is the relevant difference. For noon or later, pick the bowl, plate or sandwich you actually want, then check the current menu and service notice. We have not verified how quickly any restaurant will serve you, so none is a guaranteed short-break lunch.
Start with Isshin for a bowl, Queen Mother for a main with rice and salad, or Bar Poet for a sandwich with the side price counted. Put the full order into the budget before adding drinks.
