Caribbean Lunch In Kensington Market, Or Rasta Pasta At Waterworks

If you are heading to Kensington Market for Rasta Pasta, check the address first: its official site now directs diners to Waterworks Food Hall at 50 Brant Street. In the market, Kensington Jerk & Pasta lists its takeaway entrance at 61 Kensington Avenue, while Veggie D’Light offers a vegan Caribbean meal on Baldwin Street. Choose whether staying in Kensington or finding Rasta Pasta matters more, then compare the order and the opening day. The Waterworks stop below is a deliberate detour outside the neighbourhood.

Choose The Address And The Order

Stay in Kensington for a jerk-chicken plate at Kensington Jerk & Pasta, or a rice-based vegan takeaway at Veggie D’Light. Choose Waterworks when you want Rasta Pasta itself and a food-hall destination suits the afternoon.

The Jamaican section of Kensington Jerk & Pasta’s current menu includes more than chicken alone. Its jerk-chicken orders come with a choice of rice and peas or jasmine rice, plus homemade coleslaw or steamed vegetables. The three posted sizes cost CAD 12.99, 15.99 and 18.99. Two medium orders therefore total CAD 31.98 for food; replacing rice with provisions adds CAD 4 per order.

Choose this counter when you want to stay in the market and have the plate’s components settled before collecting it. The official site distinguishes takeaway at 61 Kensington Avenue from dine-in at 65. Call 437-672-2697 for pickup arrangements. Hours are Tuesday–Saturday 11 a.m.–7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.–6 p.m.; Monday is closed. For a pasta lunch instead of a rice plate, Irie fettuccine with boneless jerk chicken is separately listed at CAD 19.99.

Veggie D’Light For A Plant-Based Takeaway

Veggie D’Light’s The Meal puts curry chickpeas, jerk seitan and moringa loaf over basmati brown rice cooked with flax and quinoa, with vegetables on top. It costs CAD 15 small or CAD 19 large. The Roti uses the same named fillings in a whole-wheat dhalpuri shell at those same two prices. Choose the rice base or the wrapped format before deciding on size.

The important restriction is the week: takeaway at 160 Baldwin Street runs Friday–Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Its separate catering service does not establish weekday walk-up lunch. Call 647-352-7581 to arrange an order and decide where you will eat it after collecting; we have not established dine-in seating. This is the option when everyone wants a vegan Caribbean lunch, rather than a chicken plate with the meat removed. Check ingredient suitability directly if allergies affect your order.

Rasta Pasta For A Waterworks Detour

For Rasta Pasta itself, use the address on its current official site: Waterworks Food Hall, 50 Brant Street. That is south of Queen Street West, outside Kensington Market. The restaurant describes The Vatican as jerk chicken with homemade coleslaw on coco bread; it also lists Irie Fettuccine with an Alfredo-style sauce and jerk chicken. Those formats make this a different decision from collecting a chicken-and-rice plate in the market.

We could not verify a current counter price, so this guide does not turn an old delivery amount into a food-hall quote. Check the CAD amount for your actual order before committing. Waterworks posts hall opening at 11:30 a.m., with later evening closing times, but those are not verified hours for this stall. Choose the detour because that restaurant and destination suit you—with the current address settled before you travel.

See Rasta Pasta’s current restaurant site and check Waterworks’ official location information.

Check The Day Before Comparing Prices

For a Friday, Saturday or Sunday lunch, all three can remain candidates, subject to confirming Rasta Pasta’s stall hours. For Tuesday through Thursday in Kensington, this shortlist points to Kensington Jerk & Pasta: Veggie D’Light is closed for takeaway. Neither of the two Kensington counters is a Monday takeaway answer on its posted schedule.

Two medium chicken plates at Kensington Jerk & Pasta total CAD 31.98 food. Two small Veggie D’Light meals total CAD 30, or CAD 38 for two large meals. The restaurants’ size labels do not support a value ranking by weight. If a firm food budget matters, the two Kensington menus let you make that decision before leaving. Add tax, tip and drinks as applicable.

Make The Lunch Fit The Afternoon

If your plans are in Kensington, start with the chicken plate or the vegan takeaway, and let the day decide which is workable. If Rasta Pasta is the reason you are going out, go to Waterworks with the current address and counter price checked. Keep the current business name and the street address together when saving your plan.

For other market meals, compare Kensington lunch with a vegetarian friend or Kensington taco orders.

We researched current official menus, restaurant addresses and posted service information on October 17, 2026. We have not visited or tasted these meals. Restaurant names, menus and hours can change.
