A Weekend Of Downtown Los Angeles Meals And Art

Build a weekend day around one Downtown brunch, an afternoon at The Broad and a separately booked Arts District dinner. Redbird and Perch are alternative starting points rather than two meals to squeeze into the same morning. The route spans the Civic Center area, Historic Core, Bunker Hill and Arts District: use the exact addresses and leave travel time between your museum slot and Bavel reservation.

Plan Ahead

Choose Redbird or Perch for weekend brunch, reserve a timed afternoon ticket at The Broad, then book Bavel dinner from 5 PM. Museum admission and meal reservations are separate. Compare each restaurant’s food prices, service charges and group policies before booking; a free museum visit does not make transport or meals free.

Between Meals

An Afternoon At The Broad

221 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012

General admission is free; reserve a timed ticket in advance. Some exhibitions and events cost extra, and Infinity Mirror Room reservations are separate.

Saturday–Sunday 10 AM–6 PM. Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

After brunch, head to Bunker Hill for the museum, then allow separate travel to Bavel at 500 Mateo St. Check walking or transit directions before setting dinner time. Museum parking is $19 for three hours with validation and $19 flat-rate on weekends; extra time on weekdays costs more. Hope Street construction and the closed station pedestrian bridge can change your approach.

Redbird

Redbird’s downtown dining room offers a weekend menu that includes ricotta-blueberry pancakes and duck-confit chilaquiles. It is useful to distinguish a main-room reservation from lounge walk-in seating. The restaurant’s published wellness charge and large-party service fee also affect what your meal will cost.

Why This Spot: Weekend brunch 10 AM–2 PM provides the earlier meal option in an open-air dining setting.

Perch

Perch pairs French-influenced weekend dishes with a rooftop setting in downtown Los Angeles. Brunch in the restaurant begins before the separate 16th-floor lounge opens, so the space you book matters. Croissant French toast and smoked-salmon Benedict provide concrete starting points for comparing the menu.

Why This Spot: The restaurant’s weekend brunch and separately opening rooftop bar require choosing the right space.

Los Angeles · Arts District

Bavel

Bavel’s Arts District dinner menu is organized around spreads, breads, smaller dishes and larger meat or fish orders. That format helps a table assemble a shared meal, but a single starter’s price does not describe the full dinner budget. The restaurant publishes an employee-wellness charge and an option to request its removal.

Why This Spot: Daily 5–11 PM dinner offers an Arts District evening destination with a distinct shared-menu format.

On The Menu
Hummus masabacha; oyster-mushroom kebab; grilled dorade; slow-roasted lamb-neck shawarma

USD $17 hummus masabacha, $29 oyster-mushroom kebab and $54 grilled dorade. A 4% Healthy LA charge is added and can be removed on request; tax, gratuity, drinks and other purchases are additional.
